THE LAND Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world. It stretches 3,200 (comparable roughly to that across the United States) miles between Australia and the Asian mainland and divides the Pacific and Indian Oceans at the Equator. The name Indonesia is composed of two Greek words "Indos" which means Indian, and "nesos" meaning islands.
