DAY 21 YANGZI EXPLORER CRUISE Sail through the Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, Shennong Stream, Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges. Pass through the TGP (Three Gorges Project). The Qutang Gorge is the shortest but grandest, only 500 feet at its widest point. Sheer cliffs rise from the river, dwarfing the ship. The river, rich in history and legend, twists and turns through the 25-mile Wu Gorge. Its twelve distinct peaks are frequently hidden in swirls of clouds and mist. Whitewashed villages cling to terraced mountains. Ancient carvings and inscriptions are evidence of the mythical characters and creatures which inhabited this landscape.
