DAY 12 ZHENGZHOU Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch At approximately 9:00 AM depart for Luoyang. Spend the day exploring this ancient region. Luoyang was once the center of the Imperial world. The many Buddhist temples and grottoes surrounding Luoyang (Henan Province) reveal the opulence and grandeur of the ancient capital. Begin with a visit to Longmen Grottoes which display over 400 years worth of the finest Buddhist sculptures, carvings, frescoes and tablets. Most of the figures and grottoes were sponsored by the noblemen of the time. There are over 1,300 grottoes and 700 niches containing 40 pagodas, 2780 inscriptions and more than 100,000 statues and images. The Grottoes highlight the peak of China’s past glory, the Tang Dynasty.
