DAY 03 TOKYO Meals Included: Breakfast 10:00 AM Meet your guide in the lobby of the Peninsula Hotel in preparation for a full day Tokyo city tour by private vehicle. Tokyo, originally ‘Edo’ has been the capital of Japan since 1600 AD. After 250 years of isolation from the rest of th the world, Tokyo began to open its doors in the late 19 century. Tokyo’s current cityscape is the result of the rebuilding that occurred after extensive bombing during World War II destroyed much of the city. While old and new coexist harmoniously, Tokyo has come to symbolize the modern Japan, manifesting economic prosperity and worldly sophistication. Enjoy a traditional 60 minute Tea Ceremony with a Tea Master. Learn about the preparation process for a Tea Ceremony, the significance of Tea in the Japanese Culture and the ritual manners. You will also have the opportunity to sample the tea and learn how to prepare the tea. Visit the Ginza District a world-famous shopping district located in the center of Tokyo. Boasting wide avenues and elegant stores, this was the first place in Japan to import Western-style cultures in earnest, introducing the nation to sophisticated store displays and the joys of window shopping.
